THE CHOWS AGAIN.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir,— Please allow me a space m your valuable paper re the Chows again. The people of Tinakori Road having until lately been almost free from Chows, are not going to be so any longer,' it seems, as they are beginning to get a good footing mi n that locality. Not long ago there were only two m the street, namely, Young Kee and Charlie Qiioy 4 the said Chairlie having it all his own way up at the top of the street. While there was no competition he would never bid a purchaser good-morning, good-bye, or anything else ; but since Ngan Kee Brothers, Chows of course, and who get themselves up to kill, have started m the . same line three doors from the other Chows, one might fancy himself a Duke or some sort of a Divinity by the reverend way m which the said 'Charlie treats purchasers . As . the fruit business has been discussed let me get on to the laundry racket. A few doors from where I live theire is a cottage owned by a man, who, besides owning this hen-coou, has a nice cosy little job at the Government Printing Office, and. who doesn't like' his cottaeje to be tenanted by the white people, but much prefers the Chow. Now, sir, there has been several white people after this cottage, but the white people must go without a roof over their heads, as this young landlord prefers yellow tenants to white, and no doubt will next be introducing the yellow degsj or at least trying to d© so, into the Government Printing Office, and nerhaps he will take a few of the lepers home to his own home, and start a boarding house.— l am, etc.,,

'AJSTTI-CHOW,
