STOUT AND OYSTERS.

Who Was Right?

In last week's issue of " Truth " appeared a short note from the concessionaire of the Exhibition Oyster Saloon, denying that he was dispensing stout with oysters m his saloon. He averred that patrons had lockers m which they stored their own liquor, but none was sold pr given away by him as suggested by " Truth's " correspondent. Since then two probationer constables have been sent down from Wellington solely to have a feed or two m that saloon, and they swear that on two occasions they have been supplied with stout when ordering oysters, paying double price. Whether this is true or not will be determined later, but anyhow the police raided the place under warrant and nabbed 107 bottles of stout and beer — quite a respectable groggery. The refreshment was carted to the police station, and an information laid against the concessionaire. The case is to be heard on the 9th inst.
