They are very exacting m small matters on our Wellington tramways. A conductor the other night took sixpence from a passenger, and in T stead of tendering 5d change only paid out 2d. Passenger wanted to know. Conductor said he only received 3d. Passenger was absolutely and every other lcind of certain, that- it was 6d. Conductor was more so positive that it was only a scrum. Anyhow, it ended m the conducter taking the passenger's" name and address -and promising to refund if the ledger-keeper or treasurer or somebody found a superfluous 3d m the day's clean up. That person found the 3d all right, and the following day the passenger received a gorgeous typewritten epistle expressing all sorts of regrets and enclosing ihe disputed coin. That conducter should remember" that it isn't wise to be to certain about things.
