IMPIOUS IMPOSITION.

A Traveller's Complaint.

" Traveller " writes drawing attention to what he calls impious imposition on board the Northern S.S. Cos. vessels, between Russell, (Bay of Islands) and Auckland. He travelled on the Clansman on Thursday week,' as a saloon passenger, and was asked at an early hour whether he would have a cup of coffee, and the steward who brought it along said a charge of 2d a cup would be made. After leaving Auckland on the trip to New Plymouth, early morning coffee is supplied free, and the reason no doubt is that the N.S.S. Coy. has not got things all its own way on that service. Moreover he suggests that the charge for coffee is a little "trading" done by the stewards. It does look like extortion and the N.S.S. Coy. ought to treat its passengers m a better manner. '
