Tommy Ryan.
I do noi know . one fighter m the entire history of pugilism who possessed more of the ririg graces at his best than Syracuse Tommy Ryan. He was absolute master of- every trick of pugilism, and m hi? passing, which I think will be shortly, will go one of the greatest middleweights that eyier donned a glove. Rvan could hit. He could take a beaming. He was scientific, and was as wise a ooot as ever pushed a dove on his fist. Pie could stall. He was game as a- pebble, and bad as wicked and cutting a punch as I ever saw.
I was back- .of Ryan m several of his fights, and he is an easy man to handle, as he is intelligent enough to need very little, if any; coaching. Tommy's great characteristic is his shrewdness, He was always a wise owl, and while he was generous to a fault, he was not over-generous to anything else, and did not go around blowing his money foolishly.
