THE WANGANUI MEETING.
Brief Review of Handicaps. The Wanganui Club's weight-ad-juster, Mr G. Mbr&s, made public his handiwork on Saturday last m the shape of the Cup and Ply md; Hand! caj)s.. Achilles loads the list m the Cup. but not many fieop'le were prepared to find quite so much on his hack as lOst 71b, and the writer expects the chestnut's name to be missing when the list of acceptances is published. Advance, with ldlbs less, need not be seriously cbhsidered, and Multifid, Sst 131 b, has every pound that he is entitled to, and a bit more as well. Marguerite, Sst 121 b, has earned her weight and cannot be passed over unless the stable rely on Ghoorka, wild has only a feather wcighi; oil his back, viz.. 7st' 3lb, and if well on the day, should win. Paritutu, Sst 41b, is riphlly placed and as the Castor gelding seems to be coming on nicely, be should be a hard horse to beat. . Armistice, Bst 31b, I have no likine for, but Master Delaval; 7st 131 b, must be reckoned with m the light of his Auckland Cup performance. Zimmerman, 7st 91b, I will not have over lf miles, and a like remark applies to King Billy with 21bs less. Apa has 7st 71b, but reports say that his stable will rely on St. Joe, who is m at 7st 61b, and on Riccarton form, seems to have a bit the best of it.' Star Rose, 7st 51b, is not himself, and the distance should setthe both Polycastc and , Polyanthus. Ghoorka, 7st 31b, must possess an undoubted chance, as he can fret the distance, and if caught m ttyc humor the rest of thc field would be better m their boxes. Truce, 7st lib, is well handicapped. In the past she has been a very unlucky mare, and a good race is quite within^ her range. None of the horses that comprise the tail appear to have more than rough chances, and to select three horses I will take St. Joe, Ghoorka and Truce. In the Plying Handicap the trio that appear to have the best el.aj.ecs are Delamere (7.0), Splendid Idea (7.7), and Full Rate (7.4).
