Since Colonel Collins, who by the way seems to have- a lot N of influence at the £ack of him, was bumped into the position of secretary of the Treasury as wellas having something to do with the financial part of the Council of Defence, things have not been made too pleasant for" those under him. That might have been expected, but Collins seems to have taken command of the whole Government Departments 'and to be poking his nasal organ into everything that does not concern him or his job. • Some extraordinary stories are being told m Public Service circles of Collins colossal cheek m interfering m matters bevorid his province, and the result is thattheie is a lot of unpleasantness. Indeed it is a wonder, seeing how fond . Collins is of being photographed, that. he. has not had the whole Government building converted • into an art gallery of his own marital mug and bearing just to let everybody know that "Kernel" Collins is the real thing. "Truth" has not much time for Public Servants, but it hates martinets and individuals who poke. their noses into every concern but their own ; and it will be just as well for the "Kernel" to take a long, strong pull and look well to himself. ■^— — < '
