YOUTH AND A GIRL-CHILD. ' v ■ At the. S.M.s Court, yesterday morning, a youth named Harold Burridge was charged with having, at Matarawa, on January 17. carnally known a girl under the age of 12 years. Mr Wilford appeared for the defendant, and m askine for a remand till next Friday, which was granted, stated that he wished to prepare a defence, and that the father of the youth was not then acquainted of his son's arrest. Burridge was arrested m the Wairarapa district by Detective Cassells on! Thursday last. The allegation agaihst the youth' is that at Matarawa he took the little girl, who was on a visit to the farm, and Who resides with her parents at Pe 7 tone, out into a waddock and there committed an alleged criminal ofAs stated Burridge was remanded till next Friday, being released on entering m a recognisance of £50, and finding one surety of a like amount. The accused's uncle was accepted as bail*
