"Touchline" corrects the daily press for its statement that Kerr's time m the lone mile walk at the New Year's meeting on the Basin Reserve equalled the world's amateur record for the distance established by Larmar, viz. , Gmin 26sec. "Touchline" says that Lamer 's time was 6m in 25 2^ssec. I don't know what authority it is that "Touchline" is quoting; from, "but, having searched through the best reputed authorities on the- subject of world's amateur and professional records, including two American writers of undeniable standing, I am forced into stating that the time given by the "Post" and "Times," and also by this paper is substantially true. Wellington should make a big bid for possession of the Banner at the colonial championship amateur athletic meeting m Ohristohuroh next month. What with Henderson, Kerr, Premdeville, Goodbehere, Fisher, HalHgan, Bradbury, and one or two others of lesser brilliancy, the Empire City's chances look second to none.
