HAPPY HASHERY.
Vile Treatment of Servants. Five m a Room and Three m a Bed. According to statements made to "Truth" there is a certain mushmill, . or hash-tower m Christchurch that badly wants the attention of the inspector of boarding-houses and the boss of the Department of Labor and * the Society for the Protection of Women and Children and the Health Department and the police and a few. people like that. . Five girls packed into one ordinary bedroom is had enough, but to make three of them sleep m one bed is an atrocit w No wonder that m nine weeks there have been no less than fifteen resignations by girls who could not put up with the sordid surroundiners and the virulent abuse and backbiting one to another, indulged m by the charming landlady. No local girls will engage under this virago and she has been depending on strangers to do her dirty, heavy, ill-paid work, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Somebody m authority should look this place up and say a word m season to the harridan who runs it.
