Wardsman's Duties at Taranaki District Hospital. Cow-m,en's Ideas of What a Man Shonld Do! Taxanaki Hospital wanted a wardsman and a Wellington man, evidently versed m the ways of cow-district hospital boards, wrote asking for a list of the duties he would be expected to perform if he applied for and got the job. He received the list subjoined. 1. The wardsman shall reside at the Hospital. 2. To rise at 5.4<5 a.m. every morning, and also to get up when called at night, by the nurse m charge. 3. He shall carry out the instructions of the Medical, Superintendent. 4. He shall, m the absence of the Medical Superintendent, be under the Matron's control and carry out her instructions. 5. He shall assisft at operations when required, and attend to the male patients as directed by the Medical Superintendent, Matron or nurse m charge when the Matron is absent. 6. He shall see that the wards, W.C.s, Lavatorys & bathrooms on the male side are kept clean ; also the corridors and operating room. 7. He shall carry all meals to male patients who are unable to leave their beds, and atftend the •dining-room. 8. He shalL flush all drains on. the male aide' and female side once a week. ' 9. He shall carry all the dirty clothes to the Laundry when required. 10. He shall wash down the front verandah once a week. 11. He shall carry all the coal and wood for the male and female ward fires. 12. He shall assist at all ppst-mor-teras ivhon required by the medical superintendent. 13. Hours off duty :— 1 half day a week and every second Sunday after | 2 r> m.. but if required by the ; Mat- j ron. must stay on duty. 14. He must .clean, .windows and brass work when required. He shall .not, without the special leave of the Matron, absent himself from his duties. Comment would be not only superifluous but ridiculous.
