BLUE BONED AND BOOBED.
What some people— a great many m point of fact— see m petty larceny and other crimes after they have been caught and punished once it is difficult to imagine. They make nothing out of it, and the risk isn't worth a hairpin. Yet they have a go at the old game on release, and are often.
easy prey for the police, who keep their eyes on convicted thieves and such like celebrities, and buck at them on the off chance, often successfully. A man named Alexander Blue, who had just been liberated at Dunedin, waltzed up to Christchurch and the very next day raided the house of one Thomas Wintle, appropriating, among other things, Wintie's Sunday togs. Detective Cox was on his trail right* away, and recovered the "swag." At Court Blue pleaded guilty m an unconcerned way, and it was soon apparent that he was quite used to being presented at Court, as he had served sentences f-ggregating eight years and six months. In fact no sooner did he get rid of his convict clobber but he had it on again. He merely took it off to get it washed and ironed. The Magistrate said he wouldn't be doing his duty to the community if he didn't give Blue the full sentence, so this petty thief will remain m obscurity for a twelvemonth. It would appear that thc criminal instinct has a strong hold, of thc Blue family, ac others have done time for various o& fences. It'll be a blue look out for neople like Blue if we get an 'Act here like the Habitual Criminals Act of- .New South Wales.
