THE EXHIBITION.

PUT YOUR PRETTY PHIZOG ON YOUR PASS.

America Stands Out, but Canada

Comes with a Clatter.

The men who take your phizog while you wait, or some of 'em, threaten to become busy at Christchurch shortly. The exhibition autocrats have decided that the holder of a season ticket must get his features printed on the pasteboard m order to assist the doorkeeper m the matter of identification. There seems to be a deep-rooted impression that obliging, purchasers of these costly bits of pasteboard would swindle the show out of numerous bobs by transferring them temporarily to friends, brothers, uncles, nephews and other male trash who would walk ten miles if they thought they could get m free. It's human nature. At present writer can't see how the scheme is going to work but. Numerous people won't be able to get off work to face the snapshot, and what about country people ? Besides you cant- turn put photos by machinery, and each picture will take a certain amount of time to develop. It is now more than ever evident that the side shows— which will be multitudinous— will be the main feature of the exhibition. And they will be great, Most of the shows will be purely Yankee, and will consist of the cream of the successes of the various American exhibitions during the last few years. Fred Shipman, who was round with singer Jessie Maclachlan, is on the spot with 40 tons of gear, which will be set up by Frank Kamilton, for six ..years manager of the San Souci Park, Chicago, one of the largest and most popular out-door amusement resorts m the land of tinned man. All sorts of novelties are promised m connection with "Wonderland" and "On the Pike," which will require about 130 hands to run, so out of work local people shouldn't go short of toil— if they want toil, that is. By the way, America isn't going to be represented at. the exhibition. An idea prevailed that it was to be a little tin-pot, ten cent affair, and that it wasn't worth bothering about. Had proper representations been made at the right time as to the magnitude of the concern the Yank would no doubt have been "right thar." Canada, on the other hand, is putting up a fine court ; it will be one of the best m the exhibition. The Kanuck, is just as enterprising as the Yank, and this time he has got m ahead of him.
