BLASTING AT SAWMILL WORKMAN ESCAPES DEATH. Per Press Association. TAUMARUNUI, January 20. During the blasting operations ye? terday afternoon at the Egmont Box Company’s mill at Te Rena, near Kakalii, a workman, Michael Hesketh (35), went to see why a second charge had not exploded. Just as he reached the spot where the charge had been put in the explosion occurred, and Hesketh was blown about thirty feet. The skin on his face was scorched, and he was rendered unconscious, but no bones were broken. He received medical attention, and was removed to the Tauroarunui Hospital, where he is making satisfactory progress.
