LLOYD GEORGE’S ADMINISTRATION OF LIBERAL FUNDS
FULL FIGHTING LINE MAY BE IN ACTION NEXT ELECTION
By Telegraph.—Press Association. —Copyright. Australian and New Zealand Cable Association. (Received January 20, 10.40 p.m.) LONDON, January 19. Mr Lloyd George’s efforts to secure the reunion of the two sections of Liberalism are not proceeding smoothly. In consequence of comments, Mr Lloyd George attended a meeting of the National Lioeral Federation, ■ and promised to hand over such a capital sum as would enable the full Liberal fighting line to be put forward at the next election; also to cover the whole expenses of the administration of the Liberal headquarters’ committee. The federation then passed a mofyon by 10 votes to 12 asking Mr Vivian Phillipps, who is Lord Oxford and Asquith s nominee, to resign the chairmanship of the organisation committee. The “Morning Post,” commenting on the meeting, says: “Mr Lloyd George no longer claims that his offer is unconditional, as he says that he trusts to the honour of the committee to appoint a neutral committee, nor is the grant made in perpetuity, but only until three months after the next general election.” (Received January 20, 11.25 p.m.) LONDON, January 19. It is understood that Mr Lloyd George has offered for the general election fund, enabling all seats to be contested, plus annually for campaigning purposes.
