SUNDAY EXCURSION TRAINS
MANAWATU LINE.
Of considerable interest to watu residents is the Railway Department’s announcement of the running of Sunday excursion trains from Palmersto North to Paekakariki on two Sundays in January and two in February. Similar trains are being run in other districts, and the splendid patronage accorded the Railway Department’s enterprise indicates that the Sunday excursion business is fulfilling a public service. Manawatu line residents will no doubt appreciate the opportunity now offered of spending a day at the splendid Paekakariki beach at a very low charge for transport. Particulars will be found in our advertising columns to-day. Last year Sunday excursion trains run between Terrace end and Foxton were heavily supported. It has been decided to repeat these excursions on one Sunday in January and one in February, while, in addition, Northern Wairarapa people will have an opportunity of a day’s outing at Foxton, as the department has arranged to run excursions from its far afield as Pahiatua, also'on one Sunday in January and one in February. Details respecting these trains will be advised later.
