ESCAPE IN NIGHT ATTIRE HOMELESS AND CLOTHELESS. Per Press Association. PUIyEKOHE, December 6. About 10. o’clock on Saturday night a fire destroyed a six-roomed house at Tuakau, occupied by Mrs G. Bakalich and family of eight young children. The father was absent at the time. The wife had great difficulty in escaping with" the family, who were in night attire. The youngest child’s foot was burned. 1116 family were lucky, as a few minutes subsequent to their exit the building collapsed. They are now homeless and clotheless, as all their effects were lost.
