BLOCK BOOKING GOES
EMPIRE FILMS FOR ENGLAND BILL BEING DRAFTED. lustralian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received December 5, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, December 4. Following the decision of the Imperial Conference regarding the desirability of encouraging Empire films the Government is drafting a Bill to prevent blind and block booking and providing a compulsory quota to be •shown at film houses, beginning with 5 per cent. Tho operation of tho quota, however, will he postponed for a year from the date of legislation to enable producers to meet the demand.
