MEETING OF UNION APPEAL TO CHURCHES. The Council of the League of Nations Union (Wellington branch) met at Wellington last week, when a report was received from the sub-com-mittee appointed to draw uy> an appeal to churches to become corporate members of the union. The draft of the appeal was adopted, and it is to be printed. A large number of interesting letters was read and dealt with, including some from other newly formed branches both in New Zealand and in Australia. Correspondence was also received from the Dominion Council and from the British League of Nations Union on several matters of important business. As the Home Office is so far away, it was suggested that possibly students going to Europe, as lor instance Rhodes scholars, might act in some cases as representatives of the New Zealand Union at meetings of tho Homo Union. It was stated the one important matter that was to come before the consultation committee of tho British Union was the formation of a Parliamentary Committee of the League of Nations, and a similar idea had been put forth by the New Zealand Union at its last conference, though so far nothing definite had been done. A report was given of the work accomplished by the special women’s committee in holding meetings for women, at which new subscribers had been obtained, and appreciation of their work was expressed by the council. A most encouraging report was given concerning the suggestion that a study circle should be formed next year in connection with the union.
