MAGISTRATE'S COURT

OFFENDERS PUNISHED SEVERAL THEFT CHARGES. Mx W. G. Riddell, S.M., presided at the Magistrate’s Court on Saturday morning when the following cases were dealt with:— Charged with tho theft of an overcoat and scarf, valued at f-(j, the property of James William Roper, Georgie William Harris, aged 42, was remanded to appear at Martinborough on December 9th. For disorderly behaviour while drunk, George Lawson, aged 39, was fined £l, in default three days’ imprisonment. For using obscene language he was fined £3, in default three days’ imprisonment. John Woods, a labourer, aged 35, was remanded to appear at Helensville on Wednesday, on a cTiarge ot stealing £2 2s, the property or tho Waimauku Athletic Club. Ans More, aged 47, a fourth offender for drunkenness, was convicted and ordered to pay £1 15s expenses in default three days’ imprisonment. Found in a state of hopeless drunkenness, a middle-aged man was convicted and ordered to pay £1 17s expenses, in default three days’ imprisonment. Joseph Lance Lantsbery, who pleaded guilty to a charge of attempting to commit suicide was remanded to to-day for sentence. One first offending inebriate was fined the amount of his bail, 10b. Two others were fined ss, and another was convicted and discharged.
