MANAWATU GORGE SUP
IMMENSE FALL OF ROCK. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 4. Mr Casey, Divisional Railway Superintendent, returned to Auckland this morning after directing operations at the landslide in the Manawatu Gorge. Mr Casey says tho slip occurred between No. 1 and No. 2 tunnels, and twelve thousand yards of loose rock fell from the hillside. Owing to the danger in removing the debris from the top of the slip the engineers lqid a lead of pipes for some distance tip the gorge, and used a head of water to shift the loose reck into the river.
