ALLEGATIONS AGAINST CITY COUNCIL CLERK REMANDED, FURTHER CHARGES PENDING. Allegations of false pretences were preferred against Martin Thomas Adams, a clerk, aged 28, employed in the tramway x department of . the Wellington City Council, in the Police Court yesterday afternoon. , Adams appeared to answer a charge of*making a false receipt for £4 5s 10a, purported to be signed by James Kent, with intent that it be acted' on as genuine. Chief-Detective Ward stated that other charges were pending against the accused involving a total sum of from £BO to £IOO. The bench remanded the accused until November sth, bail being allowed in the sum of £IOO with one surety of a similar amount.

Mr C. A. L. Treadwell represented the accused.
