WAITEMATA SEAT
.KEEN INTEREST TAKEN MR HARRIS'S"ATTITUDE. (By Telegraph—Special to “Times.”) AUCKLAND, September, 22., .Interest in the political situation in the Waitemata electorate is somewhat keen in view of the attitude of the Parliamentary representative towards the Reform Government at the end of the session. Mr A. Harris, M.P., has consented to address a public meeting at Northcote next Wednesday under the auspices of +he local branch of the Reform League. Messrs A. Warbrick (president), S. Gee (secretary), and 1,. L. Speedy, of the executive of the Milford Ratepayers’ Association, attended a meeting of the Northcote Borough Council last evening with the object of a circulating a petition expressing confidence in Mr Harris. The Mayor, Mr C. A. Duxberry, said that while as individuals many approved of the action of Mr Harris he doubted if, as a council, they could endorse the petition. It was therefore left to any members to append their signatures in a personal capacity, and Mr F. L. Maxwell took charge of the petition for signature at Northcote.
