HIGHER RECEIPTS SWALLOWED BY HIGHER WAGES COMMISSIONERS’ REPORT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copvright. SYDNEY, September 21. The Railway Commissioners, in their annual report, state that increased payments of .salaries nnder the basic wage and various court awards, and the introduction of the 44-hour week, represented a total increase during the year of £586,195. The railway net earnings, which show a return on the capital invested of £4 6s per cent., increased by £169.580, hut the working expenses increased by £580,307, and interest by £452,881.
