NOTABLE PHYSICAL DISPLAY

Y.M.C.A. GYMNASTIC CARNIVAL Some idea of the magnitude of the Y.M.C.A. gymnastic carnival to be staged to-night, and which will be attended by His Excellency the Go. vernor-General, also Monday when His Worship the Mayor and Lady Mayoress will be present, may be formed when it is stated that the large stage at the Grand Opera House wifi be taxed to its limit to accommodate the 350 people taking part. The opening number in a long and attractive programme is the grand march, which represents the grand ensemble of the 350 pupils— Boys, girls, ladies, and men—taking part. This spectacular opening is but a prelude to a fascinating series of sectional numbers, staged without a. break and depicting all phases of physical work. The participation of so many pupils from the ladies’ and girls’ classes, all attractively dressed and trained to perfection in many novelty items, gives a brightness and colour to the performance that absolutely removes any suggestion of monotony. The mass work of the boys and the men’s classes is always a popular feature of the oarnival, . and amply demonstrates to the public the health-giving nature of the Work oarried out in the Y.M.C.A. gymnasium. Not the least important feature in the programme will he the humorous element sustained throughout by three clever clowns, under the leadership of Mr _ Lee. Warner, the clever local comedian. Altogether the carnival can he oommended as a wholesome, spectacular, and thoroughly enjoyable performance, well worthy of cordial publio support. The box plan is at' the Bristol; early doors (ticket-holders only") 7 p.im, ordinary door, 7.30 p.m. Tickets may he had at Bolts, orchardietq, opposite “JBJven’Yjk PfWt.’V
