Dear Everybody,— Cpring days are worth waiting for, aren't they? And isn't it just scrumptious not having to take a coat to school? And to feel that little warm sweetness in the air that makes us remember such things as summer and sand and picnics? “It won't be long now'' you keep saying somewhere inside yourself, and everybody about seems to be saying it, too. Well, it's been a week of wooden soldiers for me—and that's rather a peculiar week, you know. Safer than that week of Red Indians I had, though! And the best one came marching in from PEGGY COOK, aged 11, Island Bay. The second best: HARVEY GRAPES, aged 10, Kaiwarra. And two thirds: MOLLIE MARRIS, aged 9, Kelburn; and NELLIE SMITH, aged 10, Porirua. There were lots of next bests, too: May White, Paekakariki; Philip Tuohy, Carterton; Beryl Kitching, Martinborough; Bruce Marris, Kelburn; Joyce Dinnison, Brooklyn; Elsie Henderson, Featherston; Len Pritchard, Miramar. So there you are, my Artist Folk! Now, let's have our Party. FAIRIEL.
