At the inquest at Christchurch yesterw day on George Rome Hollway, * Canterbury College engineering student, "who collapsed and died while climbing Castle Hill. Henry Blackwell (20) took a blank cheque from the book of a fellow lodger, made it payable for <£27 12s, and oashed it in a Cnnstohnrch hotel. On the proceeds he bought clothes* and tripped to southern ’ town, and he was still on holiday when the police arrented him at Ashburton. He was sent to the Supreme Court for sentence.
