, “THESE ARE BRITISH” A COUNCILLOR’S MISAPPREHENSION? . The City Council decided last night that tenders be called for the supply of one 2-ton track for the use of the waterworks department; and that the offer of Messrs Ley land Motors to recondition three Ley lend trucks at a cost of £975, be accepted,, in lien of calling for tenders for the supply of three new trucks. Authority was also granted for the purchase of 12 Hudson one-yard tip trucks with necessary spares at an estimated cost of £224 5b for use at the masticator and Ngahaurangit quarry. In reference to the tip-trucks Councillor Meadowcroft' moved that 'this clause be referred back to see if a British truck could not be obtained instead of from America. Councillor H. D. Bennett: There are British. They are the little cats that you posh oy hand. Ton are thinking of Hudson motor-cars. (Laughter.) ; ~ , The' recommendations were adopted.
