WIDOW FINED £2O HEAVY PENALTY NOT ASKED FOR. Per Press Association. DARGAVTLLE, September 9. Charlotte Malam, a widow, was charged at the Police Court, before.M. Cutten, S.M., with receiving, durin; the years 1923, 1924, 1925, and 1996 - larger pension than,, she was justly citified to receive. The Pensions Department stated tha. defendant had received paymentfrom an estate, which she did sot do clare to thq Pensions Board, and habeen overpaid £478 5s 2d. Tb* de partment did not press for a heavy penalty, but the easa was brought aa warning to others, and they wool he satisfied if the defendant would re fund the amount overpaid. Mr Cutten refused to order the su; pression of the name, and fined the Ac feqdant £2O, and ordered her to matrestitution of the amount overpaid.
