A FRIENDLY VISIT
JAPANESE IN AUSTRALIA DARWIN, August 10. A Japanese delegation arrived from Singapore. Led by Baron Higuchi, the party consisted of S. Kurozumi, M. Koya, Y. Ikeda, D. Ishiguro, and T. Shimasue, all members of the House of Representatives. The secret ary to the delegation, M. Ohk>, who is secretary to the House
of Representatives in Tokyo, said the object of the visit was to gather information regarding Australian conditions generally. The party was met by local Japanese, also by a number of Chinese. The Japanese Society entertained tlio party at luncheon. Interviewed, Baron Higuchi said tlio general Japanese feeling towards Australia was of the friendliest nature. Like Australia, they were keenly interested in all developments in the Pacific area. Japan quite understood the Australian attitude on immigration, and,
despite that, appreciated Australian sentiment in the matter. Japan’s mandato over the Caroline and Marshall Islands had been greatly misunderstood. They desired to jive in perfect amity with the British people, but Japan, for her own protection, had to be keenly alive to her duties with respect to portions of tho Pacific. The party was received by the Acting Administrator at Government House.
