PARAMOUNT THEATRE
TOO MUCH MONEY.” John Francis Dillon is responsible for the direction in First National’s screen xersion of the Israel Zangwill stage hit, “Too Much 51oney,” now showing at the Paramount Theatre. Lewis Stone and Anna Q. Nilsson have the featured roles. Briefly the story is: In a desperate attempt to win for himself the attention of his beautiful wife, Annabel who devotes all her time to New York’s social set, Robert Broadley temporarily signs over all his wealth to a friend, Dana Stuart, and makes his wife believe he is penniless. Annabel rises to the occasion, takes charge of Broadley’s affairs, rents a cheap flat in the Bronz and gets him a job in a grocery store. He loses it and becomes a janitor. Annabel does her own work and becomes the loving wife Broadley wants, but he fears to tell her the truth, thinking she will desert him. Meanwhile, Stuart, a formei suitor of Annabel’s, schemes to steal his friend’s wife and fortune. He converts Broadley’s wealth into bonds and asks Annabel to elope with him, after telling her that Broadley has tricked her for selfish reasons. What follows constitutes drama and comedy of the highest order. The supporting cast are Robert Cain, Ann Brady, Derek Glynne, and Edward Elkas. The supporting pictures include a Gauniont Gazette and a comedy, while the Paramount Orchestra provides excellent incidental music.
