PRIMARY SCHOOLS TOURNEY CONTESTS FOR WEBSTER SHIELD WELLINGTON AND OTHER TEAMS The (secondary Dominion 'tournament in connection with the Soccer code in the primary schools takes places next week, and will be continued' throughout the week until Friday. Arrangements are well in hand for a successful tournament, and with fine weather the followers of the round ball game should see some thrilling encounters at Ahdersou Park. Unfortunately, Otago and Canterbury will not be represented this year, but Auckland, South Auckland (Huntly) Manawatu and Wellington will take part. The Huntly team were the winners of the tournament last year, and once again will endeavour to retain their hold on the Webster Shield, which they won at the last tournament. The visiting boys will arrive next Monday, and will be accommodated in various homes in the city. The tournament is under the management of the Wellington Public Schools’ Association, of which Mr Ferguson, as president, and Mr Smythe, as secretary, are indefatigable in their efforts to make the tournament in every way a great success. The programme for the week is ns follows. All matches at Anderson Park:— Tuesday, August 24th.—2 p.m., Huntly v. Palmerston North; 3.15 p.m., Auckland v. Wellington. Wednesday, August 25th.—2 p.m., Palmerston North v. Wellington; 3.15 p.m., Huntiy v. Auckland. Thursday, August 26th.—2 p.m., Auckland v. Palmerston North; Huntly v. Wellington. The selection committee (Messrs Kirk, Bennett and Mabin) have had several trials with a view of selecting the local representatives, and the boys honoured by their chance are: — Goal.—Johnson (Miramar). Backs.—Right, Walker (Miramar); left, Raxworthy (Marist, Thorndon). Halves. —Right, O’Leary (Marist, Newtown); centre, Simon (Newtown); left, Upchurch (Newtown;. Forwards. Outside right, Killeen (Marist, Newtown;; inside right, Webster (Newtown); centre, Wriglcy (Lyall Bay); inside left, O’Dea (Marist, Newtown); outside left, Harrison (Marist, Newtown).
