BIRDS’ LONG FLIGHTS
A sea ringed in Northumberland early m 1919, is reported have been raptured a)b Cape Town. One of the most remarkable cases of migration was the crossing of tho Atlantic bv a kittiwako gull, which was ringed in the Faroe Islands in 1923, and was afterwards shot in Newfoundland in 1924. Bwallows have the longest range of flight, and, in several cases, ringed birds have been found in South Africa. Teal and mallard come next.
