EAST WIN ANNUAL CONTEST ’ TILDEN BEATS JOHNSTON. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association FOREST HILLS, August 13. A. H. Chapin (Massachusetts) scored for the East in the opening match on Friday of the East-West series, defeating Lionel Ogden (California), 6—2, 6—2. Vincent Richards (New York) defeated E. Chandler (California), 6—3, 6—3. In the doubles, W. T. Tilden and A. H. Chapin (New York) defeated Cranston Holman and Ogden (California), 6—3, 7—B, 6—4, giving East all the victories on the first day.
