EYE FOR REVENUE

DUTY ON SHOP FITTINGS Per —nt-n AUCKLAND, August 14. The Guy C. Goss has been stripped and a considerable change has been made to the barque's appearance since the recent sale. All the gear innded is subject to duty, and the Customs Department does- not miss a chance of obtaining revenue from dutiable goods. Even the coastal steamer Manaia, which was recently wrecked at Slipper Island, is not exempt. All permanent fittings which have been salvaged from the wreck are subject to duty when brought to the mainland.

The future of the Guv C. Goss has not been definitely settled, but it is probable that site will be use l in connection with the owners’ shingle busi ness.
