FATALITY ON LINE

SANDY ELLIOTT’S WHIP Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, August 14. The body of a middle-nged man, whose name is believed to be A. E. Elliott, was discovered alongside the railway tracks at the Southdown crossing last evening by the driver of the train which reaches Auckland from Papakura at 11.10 o’clock. The man, W'ho was dead when found, had a sev. ere injury to the head. The body was placed on tho train and conveyed So Auckland. A. receipt form bearing the name “A. E. Elliott.” and a riding whip W’th the inscription, “Sandy Elliott’s Whip,” furnished the only means of identification. The deceased is thought to have been between 45 and 50 vears of age. The body was found about a hundred yards from the crossing, but the manner in which the man met his death is not known. A later message says deceased was a resident of Mangere and was employed by Brioklnnds. Ltd.
