N.Z. AMATEUR CONTEST Tho amateur billiards championship tourney of New Zealand will be opened in the rooms of the Auckland Sports Club on Monday, August 30th. One of the club tables will be adjusted to standard requirements, and crystalnte balls will bo used. The* preliminary heats will be 666 up, and tho final will be 1500. played in three sessions. It is highly probable that a number of promising players will come n*> from the South Island, with perhaps a player from Wellington. Some of tne best, amateur players of Auckland are putting in practice, and the event should JVe much more interesting than in previous years.
