| CHARGE AGAINST JOCKEY j ALLEGED CRUELTY UNPROVED. j LONDON, July i. j Accusing the well-known jockey, } C. Srairke, of jabbing a diyikey with li\ pin, at the annual “Donkey , Derby/’ an official of tho Equine Defence League created an angry scene at a church fete at Pinner, Middlesex. Leading jockeys had the mounts, tSmirkO’ riding the winner, Pat Donoghue the second donkey, and Steve Donoghue th© third. The official said he had found blood on Smirke’s hand and on the donkey’s skin. Smirke denied the accusation; and a protest against the winner, based on the alleged cruelty, was overruled.
