TREE PLANTING

AND REDUCTION OF RENT

In view of the approaching treeplanting season, we are asked to draw special attention to Section 126 of the Lands Act, 1924 ? which provides that “any lessee or licensee of Crown Lands who, with the approval of the Land Board, planfs any part of his holding with trees suitable to the locality, shall, so long as he satisfies the Land Board that the plantation is properly fenced and maintained, be entitled during the remainder of the term of his lease or license to such reduction of his rent as the board may determine.” this is an important clause designed to facilitate tree-planting by lessees and licensees of Crown lands, and should be made as widely known as possible.
