CONFERENCE OF STATISTICIANS
NEW ZEALAND TO BE REPRESENTED MR MALCOLM*FRASER TO GO. At the instance of the Premier of Perth (Western Australia) the Government ha 3 decided to be represented at a conference of Statisticians of the Commonwealth to he held in Perth on August 16th, and has selected Mr Malcolm Fraser as its representative. In mentioning the rriatter yesterday, the Minister for Internal Affairs (the Hon. R. F. Bollard) said that after the Statisticians’ Conference has concluded, > meeting of the Australian Association for the Advancement of Science will be held in Perth, August 23rd being tbe date fixed for the commencement of the meeting. According to the agenda paper furnished the Government, a number of highly important matters will be considered at the Statistical Conference, and there will be several interesting statistical subjects discussed at the Australasian Association’s meeting, at which Mr Fraser will also represent the Dominion. During the absenoe in Australia ot Mr Fraser Mr J. W. Butcher, of the Census and Statistics Office, will be the acting Government Statistician.
