Zealand i has been made The companies (the employers in the award )are as under: Uruce Company, Milton; Holmes and Son, Ltd., Invercargill; Kaiapoi ComSany, Christchurch; Lane, Walker and udkin, Christchurch and Ashburton; Mosgiel Company, Dunedin; Napier; Oaraaru Company, Oamaru; Onehunga Mills, Auckland; Boss and Glendining, Ltd., Dunedin; South Canterbur Company, Timaru; Wellington Company, Wellington. THE AWARD The details of the award are as under: HOURS OF WORK. Forty-five hours shall constitute a week's work, eight and a-quarter hours being worked on five days of the week . and three and three-quarter on Saturday. The hours of work at night shall be arranged betwen the mill manager and the majority of the night-work-ers: Provided that, subject to the provisions of the Ractorics Act, 1921-22, the daily hours of any section of workers may be other than those above set forth, if mutually agreed by the mill manager and the majority of tho workers affected The recognised hours for day workers shall be fixed by each employer, and shall be between the hours stipulated by the Factories Act, 1921-22, subject to 45 hours being considered a week’s work. Overtime rntes shall be paid as heroinatfer provided. The i>receding sub-clauses shall be read as subject in all respects to tho provisions of the Factories Act, 1921-22, aforesaid. OVERTIME. Overtimo shall b 9 paid for at the following rates: —Time and a-half for the first three hours, and double time thereafter, until the recognised starting timo next day. Any work done before or atfer the recognised starting or finishing time shall lie paid for at overtime rates. The recognised hour for starting work in each mill shall lie tho hour when a majority of the worktrs commence. This subclause shall not apply to shift workers whore more than one shift is worked. Double time shall be paid for all work done on Sundays and all holidays prescribed in tho award. Nothing heroin conlnincd as tn hours of work, overtimo, and holidays, shall be doomed to apply to watchmen, provided they are not employed at other work about the mill. CONTROL OF FACTORY. Every employer shall have full control over the management of his own factory, arid shall be entitled to make such regulations, not ineofinsistont with tho provisions of the said Factories Act, 192122, or of this award, as he shall deem necessury for timekeeping ami good order.

It shall be the manufacturer's right to introduce whatever machinory his business may require, and to divide or subdivide labour in any way he may deem necessary, subject to the payment of wages as hereinafter 6et forth. Flue-cleaning shall he paid for at the rate of 3s per hour, or by contract. Except where otherwise provided, the minimum wage for females who have served four years and upwards shall be Is per hour. WAGES: ADULT MALE WORKERS. Wool-sorters, weavers (hand-loom), warpers, spinners, assistant carders, and tuners. 2s Id per hour. Wool-scourers, chain-minders, assistant combers, head pressers. Is lid per hour. All other workers coming within the scope of this award, Is lOd per hour. The wage in every case is an hourly one, and a worker shall be entitled to bo paid only for the time actually worked. The minimum rates for girls shall be: —First six months, 15s per week; second six months, 17s 6d; third six months, <£l; fourth six months, «£1 2s 6d; fifth six months, £1 ss; Sixth six months, £1 7s 6d; seventh six months, £1 10s; eighth six months, £1 15s. The minimum rates for boys and youths shall bel4 to 15 years, 16s 6d per week; 15 to 16 years. £1 Is 6d; 16 to 17 years. .£1 6s 6d ; 17 to 18 years, £1 11s 6d; 18 to 19 years, IOJd per hour; 19 to 20 years, Is Id; 20 to 21 years. Is 4£d. PIECEWORKERS. Tho rate paid to pieceworkers (both male and female) as at December 14th, 1914, shall, plus 40 per cent, in the case of weavers and 25 per cent, in all other cases, be the rato which shall continue to be paid during the currency of this award, provided that such piece workers (except weavers) shall receive not less than tho amount specified for the time workers. Any weaver of four years' experience in a mill who docs not average the minimum wage over a period of four weeks shall have his or her wages made up to that amount. Pieceworkers employed overtimo shall be paid, in addition to their earnings, a sum equal to one-lialf of the amount of the said earnings. Tho length of the warp and price per cut shall be clearly stated when tho work is put on the loom. Provided always that, in the event of any change occurring in the conditions of working by the introduction of new machinery or additional power necessitating an alteration in such rates, then such altered rates shall be settled and fixed in the manner prescribed by clause 13 of this award. Where one weaver attends to two looms, 15 por cent, shall be deducted from the piecework rates referred to in subsclauses (a) and (b) hereof. GENERAL. 10. (a) Twenty-four hours' notice of the termination of tile engagement of the worker shall bo given by tho employer to tho worker or by the worker to the employer. This subclauso shall apply to all adult labour (molo and female). (b) Tn the hosiery departments tho rate of wages for time workers shall ue a-' herein prescribed. The usual preference and under-rate workers clauses are included.
