TAXI WRECKED
STRUCK BY FIRE-ENGINE MALICIOUS FIRE-ALARM. A four-ton fire-engine, speeding to a fire at Kilbirnie at 10.40 last night, crashed into a Hudson taxi at the corner of Wakefield and Lower Taranaki streets. The engine struck the taxi on the right front wheel, shattered the wheel, and wrecked the engine. The fireengine also was damaged, and had to be towed back to the Central Station. The taxi was driven by W. Fitzgerald, who was not injured, and was owned by George Smith. And it was a maliciously false firealarm.
