OBITUARY
MRS THGMAiS CAMPBELL. Another of the fast disappearing band of early pioneers passed away at her residence “Edenvale," Karori, on Juno lfth, in tho person of tho late Mrs Thomas Campbell, at the ago of 71. Born in County Galway, Ireland, the deceased lady arrived in Wellington by thj ship Hurunui in 1877 in company with her sister Mrs Baker, of Christchurch, and had resided in Karori ever l since. In 1879 Mrs Campbell was married to Mr T .Campbell, who was carrying on farming on land which is now a residential part of Karori. As a member of tho Early Settlers' Association Mrs Campbell was generally in attendance at tho many functions organised by that body* and delighted to talk of tho early day». The late Mrs Campbell is survived by her husband, Mr T, Campbell, four sons and one daughter, Rev. Father D. H. Campbell, S.M., parish priest, Wanganui; J. Campbell, Karori; C. Campbell, 8.N.Z.. Samoa; T. Campbell, Auckland; and Miss K. Campbell, Karori. Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated at the Basilica bv Rev. Father D. H. Campbell, S.M., Very Rev. Dean Reg* rrnult, S.M.. as sub-deacon, Rev. Father M. Dcvoy, S.M., as sub-deacon, and Rev. Father Smyth, S.M., was master of ceremonies. Tho high regard in which tho deceased lady was held was evidenced by the large attendance in the church. Rev. Father Smyth, S.M., assisted by several of the clergy, officiated at the graveside.
