ALLEGED PAINT FRAUD
MANAGER PROSECUTED Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June 10. “I will bring evidence to prove that the accused has been defrauding the public for some years,” said Mr Brown, who appeared on behalf of the Crown Prosecutor, in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, when Alfred Akins, manager for the Christchurch firm of Andrew Lees, was charged that he did, with intent to defraud, attempt to obtain from Carl Gustave Johansen the sum of £2 19s by falsely representing that two drums of Hartman’s No. 2 Red Hand point were Hartman’s No. 1 paint. The accused pleaded not guilty. The case is proceeding.
