PUBLIC CALL OFFICES

MORE PERMANENT TYPE In reply to inquiries yesterday, the Post and Telegraph Department stated that it was now in a position to meet the demand for public call offices, and hoped to install between 20 and 30 new offices where required in the immediate future. They would be placed in various parts of the city and suburbs, but not in plates which offered no prospect of them becoming paying propositions. In regard to the new boxes, the department was making inquiries as to tho cost of metal or concrete call offices, with a view to making the structures of a more permanent character.
