The amateur golf championship was continued to-day at Muirfield, with the following results; — Fourth Round. Brownlow beat Grant Peacock (U.S.A.), 2 uo. Watts Gurin beat Seymour Noon, 5 up and 3 to play. Macmaster beat Brewer fU.S.AA, 2 no. Michael Scott beat Vagliano (France), 5 and 4. , Robert Scott beat 11. Sinclair (Australia), 2 and 1.. . i ■ J. Caveu bent Noel Layton,'2 and 1/ Jesse Sweetser (U.S.A.) beat J. D. Mac Cormack (Ireland), 4 and 3. Bobby Jones (U S.A.) beat Birnie. 7 and 6. Orme Bristow beat J. Guilford (U.S.AA..I up. R. Harris beat R. S. Pugh, 4 and 3. Dr K. D. GiUies (New Zealand) beat J. B. Beck, 1 up. Fifth Round. Brownlow beat Watts Gunn. 3 and 2. Robert Scott beat Michael Scott, 2 and 1. Jesse Sweetser (U.S.A.) beat Allan Cave, 2 and 1, A. Jamieson beat O. C. Bristow, 3 and 2. Bobby Jones (U.S.A.) beat R. Harris, 7 and 6. J. G. Simpson beat Gillies (N.Z.), 5 and 3. The players so far remaining in are Ivilley, Simpson, Robert Scott. A. Jamieson (Scotland), Brownlow. Bobby Jones, and Jesse Sweetser (U.S.A.). SINCLAIR’S DEFEAT The vanquisher of R. U. Wcthercd, Robert Scott, found the Australia, Harry Sinclair, in very poor form. He was listless and never on the fairway. Scott won the first hole and the second, his opponent being hunkered twice. The next two were halved, Sinclair being bunkered. Scott taking three putts at the short fourth. Scott topned hi.s second to the fifth and lost Sinclair was bunkered at the sixth hole, barely got out, and lost his lead. TTp halved the seventh <nncl won the eighth, ninth, and tenth. Scott putting badly. Sinclair, was then 3 up, after which he collapsed. He halved the eleventh, hut short noproaches lost him the twelfth, thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth. ITc twice took three putts, and pulled his tee-shot into the rough which was responsible for liis loss of the sixteenth hole. He thus lost five holes' in succession. He halved the seventeenth, losing 2 clown and 1 to play. The winner played for Britain against America in 192.4, but to-day was not convincing. Sinclair threw away a good chance of reaching the semi-finals.
