IN FANCY DRESS

A UNIQUE PARTY. There was much fun and merriment across the water on Monday night, when a large number of guests went off in launches to visit tho yacht of the millionaire visitors, Mr and Mrs Williams, wlio gave a dinner, followed by a dance, on the Surprise, in which they are making a tour of the world. The yacht was decorated with flags, pot plants, and lanterns* having quite a fairy-like appearance. There wero two orchestras —one belonging to the vatch, the members being arrayed in black and white (half-and-half), and a town orchestra as well, so that the dancers had a splendid time of uninterrupted dancing. The supper tables were charmingly arranged with quantities of violets, and so enjoyable was Clio evening that the guests stayed till the early hours* when tho torrents of rain made a move for home quite necessary, as tho awnings wore wet through.
