AWARD MUST RUN ITS TERM
UNION’S APPLICATION FAILS ULTERIOR MOTIVE SEEN. By Telegraph —Pro#*s A K -n.—Copyr.Rht* (Received Mav 20. 8.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE. May 25. In the Federal Arbitration Court Mr Deputy-President Quick refused to grant the application by the Federated Moulders’ Union of Australasia for the termination of the Commonwealth award issued tn 1P24, because he was convinced that the object was to obtain release from the Federal award so that the organisation could go to the New South Wales Industrial Commission and ask for a State award, based on Federal rates lor the week of 48 hours. The men would then be requited to work only 44 hours at tho 48-hour rate. The judge ruled that the Federal award shall remain in force until July of tins year, unless application for a variation is made by either the unions or the emplovers.
