CASH PRICES IN THE CITY DEARER EGGS These quotations apply to cash prices over the counter, and, in most cases, do not include delivery. Eggs are now 3s lOd a dozen, and there is every likelihood of them becoming dearer. Jams are 8d per tin (small}, tinned fruits Is 2d per tin, cooking butter Is 5d per lb, and good table butter Is 7d per lb. Meat prices show little alteration. Kumeras are 3d lb, potatoes Blb for Is, cabbages 2d to 6d each, beans and. peas 4d and 6d lb, cauliflowers 2d to 6d each, pickle onions 3d lb.. carrots and parsnips 3d bunch, colery 2d to 8d per bunch, lettuce 2d and 3d each, pumpkin lj£d lb, and marrow Id lb. Mandarines are Is 6d and 2s dozen, as are also oranges, passion fruit Is a dozen, tomatoes sell at 31b for Is and 6d lb (hothouse), pears and apples are from'Slb for Is to 6d lb, quince* 4d lb, and Cape gooseberries lOd lb. Flounders are Is lb, bake 9d lb, and' smoked fish Is 3d lb. Oysters are Is dozen (opened). Canadian salmon is Is 9d lb.
