SUBDUING THE TRIBES
ITALIANS IN SOMALILAND CASUALTIES VERY FEW. Reuter's Telegram. ROME, April 25. Italian operations against the tribesmen in Cjyrenaica and Italian Soraali4and have been attended with successful results, the Italian casualties being few and the rebels’ heavy. Two columns operating in Cyrenaica, after a march in territory south of Jebel el Akhdar, reached Abid, where they routed the rebels after a bayonet chargo. The rebels later mobilised again with reinforcements, but were again routed. The Italian casualties were six colonial troops killed and 2-8 wounded. The rebels had 150 killed. Italian progress in the north of Italian Somaliland in Nog.nl territory led to the submission of the Omar Mahmud tribe. The operations were carried out with naval support. Tt is semi-officiallv stated that tho Italian losses were insignificant, and those of the rebels heavy. The Italians propose to occupy the whole of the Nogal territory as far as the frontiers of Abyssinia and British Somaliland, with the object of eradicating the anarchy which is stated to be rampant throughout the country.
